SOLUBILITY

1.    define solubility as the mass of solid required to saturate 100 g of water at a particular temperature;
2.    use given data to calculate solubility values;
3.    experimentally determine the solubility of a solid in water (other practical activity);
4.    demonstrate knowledge and understanding that a saturated solution is one in which no more solute will dissolve at that temperature, demonstrate understanding that when a hot concentrated solution is cooled some of the solute will be deposited, and calculate the mass of solute deposited;
5.    draw and interpret solubility curves
6.    demonstrate knowledge and understanding that the solubility of gases decreases as temperature increases, whereas the solubility of a solid generally increases as temperature increases.
